Taking those very first steps.. taking initiative.. those ten seconds of courage.. it all starts with saying “Hello”. So, “Hi!”, we are A-to-Z Footsteps, and we have just started out with our blog here. In the online world, we have not established a name yet. However, in real life, you may refer to us as Alan and Zaneta, hence the ‘A’ and ‘Z’. Pretty creative, right?
But it was not our intention to just mention our names to you. You have not just navigated to the ‘About Us’ page without wanting to know a little bit more about the two personalities behind this blog. After all, people do not interact with inanimate subjects. People interact with people. We are all creatures of emotion and logic. And establishing a better connection with people will help to better understand each other as well.
Since you are here to learn more about us, we would like to give a brief introduction of ourselves to you.
“So, who is Alan?”
My name is Alan, and I am Dutchman who was born and raised in a small town in the Netherlands. When you meet me, you may not directly tell that I am from this country, but that’s because I also have Indonesian origins. Nonetheless, I consider myself a citizen of the world, as I have lived in various parts of the globe, and surrounding myself in highly multicultural environments.
I enjoy spending my time traveling. Exploring different places.. discovering different cultures.. observe and learn more about what this world and life has to offer. Always looking forward to go somewhere new, even if it is just around the corner.
In daily life, I am a hotelier. Having studied International Hospitality Management has set the basis to learn more about other people, therefore better understanding them. Don’t underestimate the power of hospitality. It can make you feel like you are the only one that matters.
I am also a photographer. No, not one whose work is being displayed in one of the famous National Geographic magazines, but rather an enthusiast. I see myself more as ‘a professional guy with a camera’. I do not exercise photography as a professional, nor do I ambition to do so. Instead, I use my creative side to create memories, and share moments in time, captured in these photographs, with the world.
But, I have been talking too much already. What else you should know about me? Well.. I enjoy morning workouts.. like drinking coffee.. develop healthy habits and a healthy lifestyle.. and love riding motorcycles. But MOST of all.. I enjoy spending my time traveling around the world with Zaneta.
“And who is Zaneta?”
Hai! I go by the name of ‘Z’ for now. My personality is ever evolving and I love to explore different sides of me. Alan has always been the safe space for me to explore, to pivot, and to maneuver whenever I feel like it. Few months from now, the idea of myself might change with my evolution – which is super fine and I hope you get to enjoy the ride with me too!
I love human design and currently wanting to explore deeper into it. I am a 6/2 Manifesting Generator – as you could see that I LOVE to pivot, play and follow the breadcrumbs of joy. I explored many different jobs in my life ranging from cold kitchen, pastry, waitress, events, barista, university lecturer, insurance seller and many more. I took too many courses (and finished them!) including hypnotherapy courses, yoga teacher training, quantum leap, coaching courses, Ayurveda, mindfulness – and now I am rethinking of doing a human design course! I am always curious about life and also on how to do things better.
Two things that has stayed true with me along these years are my passions in personal leadership and empowerment. I am currently holding a leadership role in a multi-cultural hospitality organization, which allows me to explore different concepts of leadership through trial and error. Managing an international team creates a space for me to explore the different nuances of cultural background, including what motivates them and empowers them on personal level. My goal is to always combine femininity, emotional intelligence, and spiritual concepts in everything that I do on a daily basis, which assisted me in creating a cohesive and harmonious team.
Sometimes I coach too.. where I combine my intuitive abilities tackling challenges, such as inner child healing, speaking up, and personal empowerment. Did I say intuitive? Yes! I work with energy centers, regressions and pattern programming. As a coach, I am here to help YOU to be the most empowered version of yourself. But that is for later as my program is still under construction.
Okay.. that is too much mumbo jumbo, and I am all over the place (Psst, could you imagine what Alan has to deal with?) My style of writing is raw, vulnerable and sometimes most of the times all over the place. I will leave to my lovely editor to deal with (Who is it? Of course Alan!). I am learning to put my thoughts in order and hope to produce at least some nice articles on par to his writings (yes, I am complimenting Alan).
I hope you get to enjoy exploring the world through my experiences, and I wish I could be a shining light in your life too. Wishing you love and light!
“What is the reason you started this blog?”
That is a very good question! There are a lot of people out there who blog for a variety of reasons. Some blog to earn money.. some to become more famous.. and some to share knowledge with the world. For us, it is mostly to share our knowledge, our recommendations, and our stories.
With our blog, we want to focus our stories on a small number of subjects. From the chapters of our travels to the experience of hospitality.. and from the authenticity of culture to the stories through photography.
Moreover, we also would love to share bits and pieces of knowledge, things that we have learned over the course of time.. things that we wish we knew and understood earlier in our lives.. things that will add value to yours, to help the world become a better place.
Now, we understand that it is impossible to make everyone happy. There will be people who enjoy reading our articles, and there may be people who don’t enjoy it at all. But that is alright. As we have said before, it is impossible to satisfy everyone. But it is important to be and stay true to yourself. See, we may not be the next William Shakespeare, or the next J.K. Rowling (for all of you who enjoy the Harry Potter series).. but that’s simply not who we are. And you will discover and see that for yourself once you start reading our blog.
