In my journey of healing and self-development, I have started using Headspace. Headspace is an initiative with a focus on mindfulness through the art and skill of meditation, sleep, and stress management. For those looking for a recommended source to learn more about mindfulness, I highheartedly suggest you take a look. I will share with you a link to this great source below.

A quick backstory, I first came in contact with Headspace during my time working in Dubai for one of the largest international hotels and resorts with an incredibly high dynamic. For those of you working in hospitality, you probably know how stressful our work can be.
One of the benefits I had access to was Headspace. Though I started to learn more about mindfulness, I didn’t follow through with it. Which was a shame, since I recently have been discovering the value this source holds. Now I am catching-up with the material, which I could have learned from in earlier stages of my life.
Fast-forward to present day, I am watching the episodes from Headspace on Netflix. There are multiple series which go through different aspects of life. Choose the right series based on your needs, or simply watch all of them.
Have I told you I easily get distracted in my writing? The point that I was getting to is that in one of the episodes, I got confronted with the question: “Who or what do you appreciate most in your life right now?”
Now, I am not sharing with you what the answer was for me. However, I can share with you that, to me, it regards a person whom I have not always appreciated enough. In the end, this has been quite a confrontation with my own ego. Sometimes we lose sight of the things we should appreciate, and I am certainly not an exception in this.
The importance of an easy concept such as appreciation and gratefulness can easily be overlooked or neglected when we progress through our lives, or when our egos are affected. Yet, when we start asking ourselves questions like the one mentioned earlier, it helps us to shift our minds to the present moment, and refocus on the things that truly matter.
We all have so much to appreciate and be grateful for. Our lives could have been better, but it could also be a whole lot worse. And, trust me, there are still so many people who experience worse. Yet, we tend to lose sight of this when we focus so much on our own progression.
I am guilty of it myself as well.. no exceptions.. no excuses.. and it takes practice to remind ourselves that we all have a lot going for us that we can be grateful for.
So, ask yourself this.. “Who or what do you appreciate most in your life right now?”
I don’t need to know, but I need you to know the answer for yourself…
